Ireland's Largest Festival On Plant Based & Vegan Lifestyle Will Not Run This Year
Dublin Vegfest confirmed that the 2020 festival cannot take place this year, with uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 epidemic and the safety involved. The gathering was due to take place on September 28th & 29th in a brand new location in Rathmines Cricket Club. This was an expanded venue compared to Griffith College, the festival's home for the last 4 years.
Alongside Cork Vegfest, which was also canceled in April, Dublin Vegfest was the largest event on the Irish calendar in the area of plant based & vegan lifestyles. The two-day event included a plant-based athletes panel, outdoor food village, live cooking demos, and product showcases. The festival was initially founded as a platform to promote veganism but has included more plant based education over the past few years as the popularity of the movement has risen.
"A huge amount of work had gone into the event by March of this year when the severity of the pandemic became evident and restrictions came in to place. Cancelling Vegfest for this year is the most appropriate thing to do"

Looking Ahead To VegFest 2021
In a statement released on Monday, the Dublin Vegfest team expressed their disappointment that the festival will not go ahead, but stated that they are already looking forward to VegFest 20201:
"We will miss working with our brilliant crew this year. Seeing attendees filling the event with energy. Our wonderful speakers and event hosts. Thank you all for making each previous year’s event possible. We are focused on next year now and looking forward to meeting you again at our small, vibrant, and totally vegan festival in 2021. When hopefully we can gather in safety with confidence. In the meantime, we are working on ideas that we hope to share with you at some point in the near future."
There was hope initially that Cork Vegfest could take place at a rescheduled date in 2020, but could be confirmed, "only when we are certain that gatherings of our size are deemed safe to attend and it is viable." Unfortunately, the continued spread of COVID-19 will mean that attendees will simply have to wait until 2021.
